Local College Receives £20,000 Grant Towards Community Music Technology CentreThe Vale of Ancholme Technology College in Brigg has recently been awarded grant funding of £20,000 by Enventure through the Singleton Birch Landfill Communities Fund. The grant will pay for new music practice and recording rooms that will not only be used by students for their GCSE and A’ level studies but will also be open and available to members of the general public. The idea to construct the centre derived from the increasing popularity of music both by students and by members of the local community. Up and coming musicians were struggling to find suitable facilities locally where they could practice and record their music. The Vale of Ancholme Technology College decided to address this problem by converting their old school hall stage area, constructing 4 new practice and recording studios, and by providing state of the art computer aided music technology equipment. The students are extremely excited by the project and are keen to make use of facilities that will not only aid their GCSE and A’ level course work but will also give them the opportunity to record and practice their own music out side of school hours. The school already has numerous up and coming bands and musicians who are keen to make their mark in the music industry and they’ve never had such a good chance at achieving their dreams as they will once the new centre has been completed. The new facilities will not only be accessible to the students and staff at the school, but will also be available for members of the general public to hire at extremely competitive costs, accommodating for the rising popularity for music in the area. The construction of the music technology centre commenced early in the New Year and is due to be completed before the end of March. Suzanne Chapman from Enventure said: “It is great to
be part of such an exciting project. The new centre will provide
state of the art equipment and facilities to anyone wishing
to develop an interest in music. This is a tremendous opportunity
for the people of Brigg and North Lincs”. |
