Project: Vale of Ancholme Community Music Technology Centre

Funding Allocated: £20,000

The Vale of Ancholme Technology College in Brigg received £20,000 through the Singleton Birch Landfill Communities Fund.

The grant paid for new music practice and recording rooms for not only the schools GCSE and A’ level students but also for members of the general public.

The idea to construct the centre derived from the increasing popularity of music both by students and by members of the local community. Up and coming musicians were struggling to find suitable facilities locally where they could practice and record their music. The Vale of Ancholme Technology College decided to address this problem by converting their old school hall stage area, constructing 4 new practice and recording studios, and by providing state of the art computer aided music technology equipment.

The project has not only provided improved opportunities for students within and outside school hours, but has also allowed members of the wider community to gain access to state of the art facilities at extremely competitive costs.
